Lactic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin. This 5% Lactic Acid formula provides ultra-light exfoliation and is powered by purified Tasmanian Pepperberry, known to reduce signs of inflammation and sensitivity often associated with exfoliation.

This formula contains a studied Tasmanian pepper derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be evident in the formula from time to time.

Contraindications:  Lactic acid should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Please refer to additional sun protection note and other warnings in the provided instructions.

The pH of this formulation is approximately 3.8. Lactic acid has an acid dissociation constant of 3.8 and the acid dissociation constant is the most important aspect to consider when formulating acids. The acid dissociation constant means the availability of acid. When the acid dissociation constant is close to the pH, there is an ideal balance between salt and acidity, which increases the effectiveness of the acid and reduces irritation. A higher pH in such a case would result in an excess of salt, making the formulation more irritating than if the formulation were more acidic.

Note:  While lactic acid can produce rapid visible benefits, we generally suggest using indirect forms of skin exfoliation in favor of direct forms such as this formulation due to the potential inflammation and sensitivity associated with acids. Instructions

Apply once daily, preferably in the evening. May be diluted with other treatments to reduce strength until skin can tolerate it. Do not use Lactic Acid on sensitive, peeling, or compromised skin. Avoid contact with eyes. Contact with skin should be limited in frequency or duration. Discontinue use and consult a physician if skin irritation occurs. Use only as directed on unbroken or damaged skin. Test on a patch of skin before use. Keep out of reach of children.
